Who is legally responsible for getting the friability classification right?
Under Part 4.4, Division 6 of the OHS Regulations 2017, the person managing the workplace — usually the property owner or principal contractor — has the duty to identify whether asbestos is present and likely to be disturbed, and to ensure it’s classified by a competent person.
